Aminothiols exchange in coronavirus disease 2019

Abstract Objective Clinical manifestation of the inflammatory process in its relation to biochemical markers (total cysteine [Cys], cysteine-glycine [CysGly], glutathione [GSH], glutamate-cysteine [Glu-Cys], homocysteine [Hcy], ratio reduced oxidized [GSH/GSSG], [CySH/CySS], malondialdehyde-oxidized low-density lipoproteins [MDA-oxLDL]) has been studied patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Material and methods 48 mild severe COVID-19 20 healthy volunteers were included our research. The participants divided into 4 experimental groups according inflammation intensity estimated based on serum levels interleukin 6 (IL-6). Results All showed prevalence male elevated IL-6 (by 54.6%). There was no comorbidity (nasopharyngitis symptoms) control subjects. 50% lung damage had accompanying diseases. Alterations aminoethyl metabolism detected patients: as reflected by decreased Cys, CysGly, Glu-Cys increased GSH compared group. Conclusion Elevation over 7.5 pg/mL associated GSH/GSSG CySH/CySS ratios indicating enhanced oxidative stress followed protein oxidation, specifically MDA-oxLDL.
